An original and very fine work depicting the Madonna of Saint Jerome, painted by Correggio (Antonio Allegri).
The Madonna of Saint Jerome, or The Day (as a counterpart to The Night in Dresden), is an oil painting on panel datable to around 1528 and held in the Galleria Nazionale in Parma.
It was commissioned in 1523 by Briseide Colla for the Chapel of San Girolamo in the church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Parma.
