In the foreground is an area of the city laid out as a garden, while further back London unfolds, with its buildings and the dome of the church. The work highlights the regular geometry of London, with its neatly squared suburbs. The sky is clear, but there are a few clouds on the horizon.
The engraving is dated 1753.
