An original and luminous eighteenth-century view of London gardens, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The scene depicts the splendid English gardens facing the palace at the back of the painting. The large space dominates, with people strolling along the broad avenues on a beautiful sunny day. Further to the right there is a second London palace.
The sky features a few pink-tinged clouds on the horizon, but the day is clear. The work, an oil on canvas, is dated 1749.
