A marvelous, decaying view of a landscape with ancient Roman ruins, painted by Bernardo Bellotto. The monuments are in decay, left to decay and neglect. The ancient colonnade, however, stands the test of time. In the background, barely visible, there is a dome and a bell tower, but they do not seem to belong to Rome. The day is clear and serene.
The painting, an etching in black on cream-colored laid paper, is undated.
