The artwork
A fine 18th-century depiction of the historic brickworks of Gaeta, painted by Jakob Philipp Hackert. Gaeta, a seaside city, is depicted with its port, and goods are stacked on the pier, ready for departure. In the foreground are citizens and two mules used to load goods leaving the port. In the background there are some boats and mountains. The red bricks of Gaeta are stacked, ready to be transported to their destination.
