The artwork

Judith with the Head of Holofernes is an oil painting on panel transferred to canvas by Giorgione, datable to around 1504 and kept in the Hermitage in St Petersburg.

The work has an uncertain date ranging between the end of the 15th century and 1505, but it is one of the cornerstones of Giorgione's early youthful phase.
