Gaius Octavius Turinus, better known as Octavian or Augustus (63 BC - 14 AD) was the first emperor of Rome, reigning from 27 BC until his death. He was proclaimed "Augustus" in 27 BC or "worthy of veneration and honor" for his work towards the Senate and for the protection of intellectuals and culture in general.
He was also famous for his administration of the city of Rome, for which he also took care of the water management system and food supply, among other things.
