A marvellous depiction of a hussar on a Lipizzaner horse, by Bernardo Bellotto. In the foreground is the rider in his splendid uniform, painted in detail by Bellotto. The white horse is trotting, riding among the ruins of ancient cities. The hussar is accompanied by a horsewoman. On the right a small waterfall can be glimpsed, with a bridge busy with oxen and carts.
The painting is dated 1773 and is on display at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria.
