A wonderful depiction of a hussar on a Lipizzan horse, painted by Bernardo Bellotto. The rider is depicted in the foreground, wearing his splendid uniform, painted in detail by Bellotto. The white horse is at a trot, riding among the ruins of an ancient city. The hussar is accompanied by a female rider. On the right, a small waterfall can be seen with a bridge crossed by oxen and carts.
The painting, dated 1773, is exhibited at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, Austria.
