The artwork
Guardians of the Secret presents itself as a visionary, primordial stage. Two vertical figures, stylised and totemic, stand at the sides of the canvas like ancestral guardians; between them, at the bottom, lies an animal, a dog or jackal, of hybrid appearance, as if evoking guardians of the afterlife or mediators between worlds. At the centre of the composition opens a rectangle reminiscent of a ritual tablet or an engraved slab, decorated with hieroglyphs and abstract symbols.
Above, along the upper part, runs a sequence of signs – masks, scarabs, animals, hybrid symbols – that recalls an arcane language, like an ancient code. The colours, sinuous lines, layering and blend of figuration and abstraction give the work a dreamlike, ritual atmosphere, suspended between myth, the unconscious and ancestral memory. The whole canvas is an invitation to immerse oneself in a secret world of symbols, archetypes and archetypal presences.
