A splendid painting depicting people at the port of Gaeta, made by Jakob Philipp Hackert. The ships are moored in the harbour. Some people sit on the quay, some stroll, and some ladies are talking. The sky is tranquil and the sea is calm. This kind of depiction is unusual for Hackert, who usually painted scenes of hard work in the harbour. This time he portrays a slice of peaceful life.
The painting is on display at the National Museum of San Martino & Certosa, Naples.
