A rare and original 18th-century engraving in ink on paper depicting the Grand Canal in Venice, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The canal stands out, busy with boats of various sizes; along both sides are fine Venetian palazzi set side by side. Five churches are depicted, in various styles from Baroque to Romanesque. The sky is clear, but there are a few clouds on the horizon.
The work is dated 1732.
