Original and rare 18th-century painting of the Grand Canal by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there is the Grand Canal, bustling with boats, surrounded by beautiful Venetian palaces. Canaletto painted the canal water with shades of blue and green, taking on a color similar to that of the sky. On the right side of the painting, the Venetian palaces are in the shade, while on the opposite side, they are illuminated by the morning sun. The sky is clear, despite a few clouds.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1750. Other variations of this work by Canaletto exist.
