The artwork
Original 18th-century view of gondoliers near the Grand Canal, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there are the gondoliers, sailing, introducing tourists to Venice. The day is clear, the sky reflects shades of light green and blue in the water. Behind the gondolas, the Molo with several anchored boats and the Venetian palaces of the Riva degli Schiavoni can be seen in the distance. The work is undated.
The painting is exhibited at the Louvre Museum, Paris, France.
