An original engraving of the locks at Dolo, with a view of the town, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground is the lock that gives boats access to the canal, while the small town of Dolo extends on the other side of the canal, with its fine church and tall bell tower. Beside the church are some Venetian palazzi. We are in the middle of the Riviera del Brenta.
The sky is clear, with a few clouds on the horizon. The work is dated 1744 and is held at the UCL Art Museum, University College London.
