A rare and unique Leonardo-style sketch painting by Gaspare Vanvitelli, executed in pen, brown ink, and graphite on two sheets of laid paper joined together. The dominant theme of the painting is trees, depicted using a unique painting technique.
This painting is also part of the extensive production Vanvitelli created during his stays in Rome. The painting is a bequest of Lore Heinemann to the National Gallery of Art.
