Original, brightly colored depiction of fishermen and peasant women from 1700 in Barletta, painted by Jakob Philipp Hackert. In the foreground is a fisherman on the pier, conversing with two peasant women, one with a laundry basket over her head. Next to him is a street urchin with a second fisherman. The day is clear and the atmosphere is cheerful. The colors of the sea are a dark blue hue that becomes slightly lighter toward the shore.
The painting is exhibited at the National Museum of San Martino & Certosa in Naples.
