An original and refined vertical view of a Roman landscape painted by Jan Frans van Bloemen. Majestic trees dominate the scene, while in the foreground are travellers before some ruins. In the background are a village and mountains. The sky is bright, lit by the morning sun. The dominant colours are green and blue, shaded in many tones.
