An original and sought-after painting of King Ferdinand I's coot hunt by Jakob Philipp Hackert. Of particular note is the moment the arquebus is fired, on the left-hand side of the picture. The hunter stands on the shore, with several boats in the middle ground. Birds are flying in the sky, coots among them. The sky is clear and the day is perfect for hunting. On the water are boats of sailors and coot hunters firing their arquebuses. Prominent on the right is a large tree, with onlookers at its foot and a building on the islet.
The painting is on display at the Capodimonte Museum, Naples.
