The artwork
A rare and original 18th-century engraving depicting an equestrian monument, created by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. The work features a three-level building; alongside, the equestrian monument stands out against the landscape and overlooks the palace, which has steps leading to the upper floor, where large windows are located. At the foot of the palace and in the square in front, scenes of everyday life are depicted. The sky is clear, but there are a few clouds on the horizon.
The work is undated. Other variations of this work by Canaletto exist.
