The artwork

An original perspective view of the Four Fountains towards Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, by Lievin Cruyl, in pen and brown ink with brush and grey wash over graphite. In the foreground are the two streets that meet, with two of the four fountains on either side. The palace in the centre serves as the origin of a bisecting perspective view. Three similar variants of this picture exist.
