A splendid and distinctive view of Ponte Rotto in Rome by Lievin Cruyl, in pen and brown ink with brush and grey wash over graphite. In the foreground is the bridge, broken at the third arch. On the Tiber, two stilt houses can be seen forming a link to the bank where the bridge is missing. In the background is the city of Rome with its palaces. The detail of the bridge reflected in the waters of the Tiber, together with the boats, is remarkable.
