The protagonist of the painting is the bridge, busy with people, with its fine, mighty Roman arches permanently linking the two banks of the Elbe. Bellotto paints the sky in pale shades, with a few clouds. The picture is dated 1765. It is one of the 14 views of the city of Dresden that Bellotto painted during one of his stays.
