An original and luminous eighteenth-century depiction of the town of Dolo on the Venetian coast, with the Brenta River, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there is the riverbank, with scenes of daily life, while on the left there are the bourgeois buildings of Dolo, poorly maintained and in the shadow. The lock and the navigable canal, with a few boats traversing it, are clearly visible. The sky is clear with a few white clouds. This oil on canvas painting is undated. Other variations of this work by Canaletto exist.
The painting is exhibited at the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart, Germany.
