Some merchants are haggling while dockworkers await the order to load the goods. The port dock is a small market. The painting highlights the labor of the workers, engaged in the hard work of moving and loading the goods. A similar version of this work by the same artist exists.
The painting is exhibited at the National Museum of San Martino & Certosa in Naples.
