A rare and original painting depicting the destruction of the Turkish fleet in Chesma Bay, painted by Jakob Philipp Hackert in 1772. In the foreground thereìs a burning galleon, its flames illuminate the night. In the background, another galleon is burning. The sea is particularly striking, illuminated by the flames.
The painting is exhibited at the Peterhof Palace, Petrodvorets, at St Petersburg in Russia.
