A rare and original painting depicting the destruction of the Turkish fleet in the Bay of Chesma, made by Jakob Philipp Hackert in 1772. In the foreground is a burning galleon, its fire lighting up the night. In the background another galleon burns. The sea, lit by the flashes of fire, is remarkable.
The painting is on display at the Peterhof Palace, Petrodvorets, St Petersburg, Russia.
