Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow (1930) is one of the masterpieces of Piet Mondrian, the leading exponent of Neoplasticism. The work is characterised by the rigorous use of vertical and horizontal black lines dividing the canvas into rectangles and squares of varying sizes. The geometric planes are filled with the primary colours – red, blue and yellow – alternating with white spaces, creating a perfect balance between empty and full.
