Original 18th-century view of the Column of Marcus Aurelius, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there is the column, which stands in the center of the square on a canopy. In the small square there are figures and scenes of everyday life. At the far end of the square there is a palace with a beautiful church behind it. Canaletto included many architectural details in this painting. The sky is clear with a few white clouds on the horizon.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is undated and is part of a private collection.
