Original and rare 18th-century view of Warwick with the Church of Santa Maria, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto, in pen and brown ink over graphite. In the foreground there is the small square in front of the church, with scenes of daily life. Further in the background there is the Church of Santa Maria, with a detail of its tall bell tower. The sky is slightly cloudy.
The work is undated. Canaletto also created other variations of this watercolor, which is exhibited at the Yale Center for British Art, Paul Mellon Collection, USA.
