In the foreground is the small square in front of the church, with scenes of everyday life. Further in the background is St Mary's Church, with a detail of its tall tower. The sky is slightly cloudy.
The work is undated. Other variants of this watercolour by Canaletto exist; it is on display at the Yale Center for British Art, Paul Mellon Collection, USA.
