Original and rare 18th-century depiction of the Grand Canal near Santa Maria della Carità, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there is the small square in front of the churchyard of Santa Maria della Carità, while further to the left there is the Grand Canal, with its boats. Beyond the bank there are Venetian palaces. The sky is dark and cloudy, threatening rain.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1726.
