The artwork

"Red House", painted by Kazimir Malevich in 1932, belongs to the artist's late phase, marked by a return to figurative subjects after the Suprematist period. The work shows a simple building, rendered through essential geometric volumes and flat fields of colour. The intense red of the house dominates the composition, creating a strong contrast with the sky and the surrounding ground. Although it is a rural scene, the image retains an abstract, symbolic character: the absence of superfluous detail, the rigidity of the lines and the compressed perspective suggest a suspended, almost metaphysical world.

Malevich portrays the reality of the Soviet village, yet at the same time transcends it, transforming peasant architecture into a modern icon. The work reflects the tensions of the period, in which the artist, though under the ideological pressure of the regime, continued to explore the expressive power of pure forms and colour.
