The map illustrates the states bordering the Eastern Mediterranean as they were within their 1700 boundaries. Specifically, rivers, mountain ranges, and major cities are represented. There is no division into meridians and parallels, while in the upper right corner there is a furnace with knights.
Pieter van der Aa was one of the greatest European publishers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
