An original and rare 18th-century capriccio of a church with a round plan and a small square in front, made by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground is the bridge and the church, not very large, but finely detailed, with a fine painting high on its front wall. Further back are some palaces, while the church is surrounded by walls. The dominant colour of the painting is a soft light pink. The sky is clear, shaded in light blue and pink.
The picture, an oil on canvas, is dated c. 1753. Another variant of this work by Canaletto exists.
