An original and rare 18th-century capriccio of the Rialto Bridge, painted by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground there is the covered Rialto Bridge, with its shops, a landmark for Venetians. Below the bridge there is the Grand Canal, bustling with boats, while around it there are beautiful Venetian palaces. The sky is clear, tinged with pale blue and white.
The painting, an oil on canvas, is dated 1740 approx.
