In the foreground, Bellotto stylishly depicts the colonnade of a disused building, with a particular focus on shrubs growing above the columns, a sign of neglect and the relentless decline of time. At the foot of the colonnade there are scenes of everyday life. The sky is clear with a few white clouds. The painting, oil on canvas, is dated 1743. Another version of this work exists.
