An original and rare 18th-century depiction of the stonemason’s yard at Campo San Vidal in Venice, by Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto. In the foreground is the yard, with scenes of everyday life and roughly hewn stones in front of a dilapidated building. Further back are the bell tower and a church. The morning sun lights up the yard, but there are a few threatening clouds in the sky. The picture, an oil on canvas, is undated.
The painting is on display at the National Gallery, London, UK.
