Bedroom in Arles is an 1888 painting made by Vincent van Gogh in the Yellow House. The work depicts his bedroom with its simple furnishings: the bed, the chairs, the small table and a few pictures on the walls. The deliberately distorted lines and the flat, contrasting colours, such as blue, yellow and green, create a suspended, unreal atmosphere.
Van Gogh wanted to convey a sense of quiet and rest, but the chromatic tension also reveals emotional fragility and inner instability, turning the domestic space into a mirror of his state of mind.
