A marvellous, bright view of the Doge's Palace in Venice on a perfectly clear day, by Bernardo Bellotto. The palace extends along the right of the painting, seen at an angle. In the foreground is the Grand Canal with its gondolas and other small boats. In the softly rendered square, citizens can be glimpsed. The sea is calm and the sky clear and limpid. Several variants of this picture exist.
