A rare and original painting depicting the 1770 Battle of Chesma Bay, painted by Jakob Philipp Hackert. Ideal for a collector. The sea is filled with galleons lined up with sails unfurled. In the foreground, on the left, is a burning galleon. The ships are lined up offshore, but the battle is only just beginning and the outcome is still uncertain. Near the shore, the sea is slightly choppy, white waves crashing against the rocks.
The painting is exhibited at the State Central Navy Museum in St. Petersburg.
