The access bridge is prominently depicted, and in the distant background, St. Mark's Basilica with its bell tower and dome can be glimpsed. Closer up, along the Grand Canal, there are the Venetian palaces. Boats, including some gondolas, are coming and going on the canal. A few clouds are forming in the sky. This painting is dated 1741, and a variant of it exists.
