Saint Michael the Archangel is one of the most important figures in Christianity.
He is regarded as the guardian angel of Israel and leads God’s army against that of the great dragon.
According to tradition, Saint Michael the Archangel hid the tomb of Moses to protect the Jews from the sin of worshipping a hero, the fault through which Satan hoped to lead the people of Israel away from the word of God.
Often depicted in full armour, bearing a spear or a sword, here he is captured with his foot on the head of the now defeated Lucifer.
