A luminous view of an archaic landscape painted by Jan Frans van Bloemen. Near the waterfall in the foreground are travellers, and in the background is a fortress. On either side are fine trees painted in detail, while far off on the horizon a snow-capped mountain merges with the vivid white and blue of the sky. The luminosity of the waterfall in the foreground is striking.
The painting is part of a private collection.
