Publius Aelius Trajan Hadrian , known as Hadrian ( Italica, 24 January 76 – Baiae, 10 July 138), was a Roman emperor of the dynasty of adoptive emperors, who reigned from 117 until his death.
He is considered one of the "good emperors", according to historian Edward Gibbon.Cultured and passionate admirer of Greek culture, he traveled throughout the empire and enhanced the provinces. He was careful to improve the conditions of the military and had a fortified wall built in Britain, the famous Hadrian's Wall .
Among his most important works we also remember the Pantheon in Rome, Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli and Hadrian's Mausoleum, later Castel Sant'Angelo.
