The artwork

The Adoration of the Magi is a painting in distemper and gold on panel by Andrea Mantegna, datable to c. 1497-1500 and held in the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

The canvas is an example of the master's late style. On the left is the Holy Family (Joseph, Mary and the Christ Child), while on the right are the three Magi, holding their gifts.
