The artwork

Andromeda was a wonderful sea nymph: what great courage to declare herself the most beautiful of all her companions!

For this reason she was chained on the shore, but the hero Perseus, a valiant fighter, passed by and fell madly in love with the nymph, setting her free from her imprisonment and starting an ancient love relationship with her.

This mythological tale, typical of ancient Greek times, was reproduced in a Pompeii fresco now in the Archaeological Museum of Naples.
